Frequently Asked Questions

Some typical questions for our first-time customers

Q: What does it cost for a quote for my job?
A: There is no charge for a quote.

Q: How long does it take for a quote?
A: Typically it will take 24 to 48 hours after receiving the necessary drawings/definition.

Q: Do you quote by the hour or by the job?
A: Most of the time quotes are “per part” plus a “setup” charge

Q: When will I know how long it will take to run my job? (And when you will start)
A: After the quote is accepted, your job will be placed on our “weld schedule.” Your timing will depend on the availability of the particular machine required for your parts.

Q: I see you are located in southern California. Do you work with Canadian companies?
A: Yes

Q: Are there any special requirements the first time our companies work together?
A: Credit details may be necessary.

Q: Do you have a FAA drug/alcohol testing program?
A: Electron Beam Welding LLC participates in a FAA drug/alcohol testing consortium. We can provide electron beam welding process for FAA Repair Stations requiring this outside service. We certify our process and welcome process audits to assure integrity and quality that the FAA airworthiness certifications require.

Q: The pictures on your “Real World” website tab are interesting. Is it a typical job?
A: The “Real World” pictures (showing the deep penetration of a burn through weld) are displayed on our website to attract attention. True butt weld joints represent most of the requests we receive. Our operators and machines are certified to weld joint thicknesses of up to 1.600 inch. The weld requirements for most assemblies are well under that thickness. Our average weld depth in stainless, inconel, titanium, copper or nickel is around 0.200 inch...with many welds in the .010 to .070.
